Immediate danger
Call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department if someone:
• has attempted suicide or seriously harmed themselves
• may act on a suicide plan immediately
• is threatening serious harm to themselves or others
• cannot remain safe
• is experiencing a severe medical or psychiatric emergency
Do not leave the person alone if there is an immediate concern for their safety.
Thoughts of suicide or concern about someone else
Call or text 988. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, anywhere in Canada.You may contact 988 if you are thinking about suicide, are concerned about someone else, or are unsure whether the situation requires immediate help.
Support for Children
Children may not say directly that they want to die. Statements about disappearing, never waking up, being a burden, or wanting everything to stop should always be taken seriously.
The following crisis services are available for immediate support:

Free and confidential support is available 24 hours a day for children, adolescents, and young adults across Canada.
Support for Adolescents
Adolescents may not say directly that they are thinking about suicide. Expressions of hopelessness, feeling like a burden, wanting everything to stop, or talking about death or self-harm should always be taken seriously. The following crisis services are available for immediate support:
